NeMo Slot Model The Slot model is a variation on the two main types of cognitive state models for visual working memory, the continuous shared-resource (CSR) and discrete slots [4,5,7]. Both models posit that the human brain has a limited number of distinct memory slots to hold stimuli. The differences between the models lie in how they estimate the correct drift rate for each slot, and in how they elicit the correct response to stimuli. The basic pattern of results for set size that has been observed experimentally can be accounted for by either type of model. The strong model from the discrete slots family estimates a single parameter for the memory-based change-accumulator, and it assumes that this process is invariant to set size. This allows it to predict the overall pattern of results observed experimentally for set size: hit rates will get slightly faster and false alarms will get slightly slower as the memory-set size increases.
